176-3228: Aftercooler Core

The Aftercooler Core Assembly cools down the engine cylinders' compressed air by passing it through a system where it exchanges heat with a cooling medium. By cooling the compressed air, the Aftercooler ensures that the air going into the cylinders is at a lower temperature. It consists of a network of tubes, and fins through which the hot compressed air flows. These tubes or fins are designed to facilitate efficient heat transfer. As the hot compressed air passes through these tubes it comes into contact with the walls of the tubes or the surfaces of the fins. Attributes: • Designed to withstand high temperatures and pressures • Cools compressed air before it enters engine cylinders • Counteracts the heating effect of air compression • Improves power output and fuel efficiency. Applications: This Aftercooler Core Assembly is located near the cylinder block to cool down the compressed air before it enters the engine cylinders.
