450-1871: Engine Turbocharger

A Turbocharger operates by utilizing the engine's exhaust gases. The Turbocharger consists of two parts the turbine and the compressor. As the exhaust gases flow over the turbine wheel, they cause it to spin at high speeds, which in turn spins the compressor wheel and when the compressor wheel spins it draws in ambient air and compresses it before delivering it to the engine's intake manifold. Attributes: • Provides more oxygen to enter the engine, resulting in better combustion and increased power output • Increases engine power and efficiency by forcing more air into the combustion chamber Applications: A Turbocharger is used in Internal combustion engines to increase their power output by forcing more air into the combustion chamber.
