A Straight-Sleeve Bearing is a sliding contact bearing in which the surface of the shaft slides over the surface of the bush. It consists of a cylindrical sleeve with a smooth inner surface that allows a shaft to rotate inside it with minimal friction. The oil grooves are cut into the plain bearing surfaces to assist in the distribution of the oil between the rubbing surfaces.
