631-6481: Rear Differential Carriers

Cat® Differential Carrier is a device that allows the wheels on a drive axle to rotate at different speeds while cornering, thus preventing binding and hopping. A differential carrier consists of a ring gear, a pinion gear, a differential case. The ring gear is attached to the differential case, which holds the differential pinions. The pinion gear is connected to the driveshaft and meshes with the ring gear. The differential pinions are mounted on a cross pin and mesh with the differential side gears, which are attached to the axle shafts. The differential carrier transfers the power from the driveshaft to the axle shafts, while also allowing them to rotate independently when needed.
