A Serpentine Belt is a continuous loop of rubber that is ribbed on the inside to provide traction. It is wrapped around a series of pulleys on the engine, including the pulley for the generator fan. As the engine runs, the crankshaft turns the serpentine belt, which in turn turns the generator fan.
