9F-8580: Connecting Rod Bearing

A Connecting Rod Bearing is a plain bearing that supports the connecting rod on the bearing journal of the crankshaft. The large eye of the connecting rod is split and is closed by the connecting rod bearing cap at the base of the connecting rod with expansion screws. The Connecting Rod Bearing absorbs the forces (axial and radial forces) from the engine movement and transmits them to the bearing housing. Due to the lubrication, which is provided by the oil pump constantly, the crankshaft slides over the oil film and provides rotary motion almost without wear. Attributes: • Reduces friction between the connecting rod and the crankshaft • Provided with an oil hole of diameter 0.314" in both top and bottom halves/top half • Provides distribution of the applied cyclic loads over a relatively wide area • Supports, guides, and connects the connecting rods to the crankshaft, which move against each other Applications: A Connecting Rod Bearing is used in internal combustion engines and that involves the reciprocating motion of a piston.
