An Air Cleaner Cup Gasket is a seal that fills the space between two or more mating surfaces, generally to prevent leakage from or into the joined objects while under compression. Gaskets in the air cleaner assembly occupy the space between the cup assembly and the primary filter element and function as a mechanical seal. The purpose of the Gasket is to prevent air from bypassing the filter element and entering the engine without being properly filtered.
