An External Spur Gear used in a sea-water pump consists of a cylindrical or disk-shaped gear with straight teeth cut parallel to its axis. It is designed to be fitted in the sea-water pump and provided with a keyway slot that enables the gear to be locked with the shaft assembly. The teeth on a spur gear mesh with teeth on another gear, allowing the rotational motion to be transmitted between the two gears. Attributes: • Manufactured from forging gives excellent strength • Hardened to increase the strength and wear resistance • Maintain a constant speed ratio between the driving and driven shafts Applications: An External Spur Gear is used to transmit the power and helps in creating a suction force inside the pump for proper operation of the Sea Water Pump.
