The gear drive setup called gear trains and gearboxes are mechanisms consisting of an assembly of gears, shafts, and other machine elements for mounting the rotating parts. The Gear drives can alter the transmitted power by using different configurations of gears. A common use of gear drives is for reducing the speeds of motors and engines that typically run at thousands of revolutions per minute (rpm). These are known as speed reducers. By reducing the speed, torque is increased. Attributes: • Small center to center distance between the shafts. • Drives can increase or decrease the speed of the driven shaft relative to the driver. • Operated in noiseless. Applications: The gear drives are used in gearboxes of equipment, machine tools, dial indicators, and differential mechanisms in the industry.
