An Electrical Trip Unit is used to automatically disconnect an electrical circuit in the event of an overcurrent or short circuit. It is made of a thermal-magnetic element and an electronic circuit. The thermal-magnetic element senses the heat generated by an overload condition, and the electronic circuit senses the current flowing through the circuit. If either of these conditions is met, the trip unit will disconnect the circuit.
