2V-7053: Compactor Wheel Tip

The full metal face tips are made of DH-2™ steel and heat treated for strength to withstand high impact wear conditions and, therefore, provide longer wear life when compacting soils containing rocky material, in addition to gravel, coarse sand and low cohesion and low adhesion type materials. In comparison, the standard tamping tip is designed for use in low impact wear conditions, including cohesive and adhesive softer soils such as clays and silty clays. The full perimeter and replaceable tips are welded to a base assembly which is then welded directly to the Caterpillar designed and built wheel. The tips are used in typical soil compaction applications where coarser grained, low cohesive or low adhesive material is present.
