339-8174: Engine Cylinder Piston

An Engine Cylinder Piston is used in a reciprocating engine to transfer forces from expanding gases in the cylinder to the crankshaft through the connecting rod. The piston contains machined grooves that will house seals and these seals prevent pressurized gasses from passing from one volume to the other. The piston also contains machined grooves for wear rings that ride on the inside surface of the cylinder assembly to prevent damage and scoring of the piston or cylinder assembly.
