The plate is used in the feeder chain assembly that pulls asphalt from front of the machine to rear. The plate is the "floor" of the feeder bed and the chain drags the asphalt across this plate. The feeder plate is considered as a wear part and is replaced every 2-5 years depending on the asphalt aggregates and the tonnage paved.
