Description: An Aftercooler is a component of an engine's cooling unit that helps to reduce the temperature of the compressed air produced by a turbocharger before it enters the engine's combustion chamber. It is typically made up of a series of tubes or passages through which the compressed air flows. The aftercooler is placed in the path of the compressed air between the turbocharger and the engine's intake manifold. Attributes: • Helps to protect the engine from damage caused by excessive heat and pressure. • Increase the density of air entering the engine, which allows for more fuel to be burned per cycle. Applications: An Aftercooler acts as a heat exchanger in an engine's forced induction unit, mostly used in Cat C4.4 Engine (Piston), and C4.4 Generator Set.
