A spur gear is a cylindrical gear with teeth that are straight and oriented parallel to the shafts. It is used in starter motors for internal combustion engines. It is designed to mesh with the ring gear on the engine's flywheel to start the engine. Attributes: • Pressure angle of 20 degrees is provided for improved lubrication and performance of the gear. • Flame hardened to Rockwell C scale hardness of 47-53 which increases the strength and hardness. • Designed to withstand high forces and stresses generated during engine startup.
