The Differential Safety Spool is to control the flow of hydraulic fluid to components within the transmission, such as clutches and bands, to engage or disengage them at the appropriate times. Inside the spool, multiple lands and grooves create different flow paths for the hydraulic fluid. These lands and grooves are strategically designed to control the pressure and flow rate of the fluid based on the input signals received from the transmission control module.
